Flare Partners with Web3Auth to Enable Seamless Social Logins for Web3 Apps

Blockchain for data, Flare, has announced a new partnership with Web3Auth, the leading Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS) infrastructure provider, to enable seamless access to web3 apps and services using email and social logins.

The integration with Web3Auth removes the dependence on seed phrases for creating or accessing a web3 wallet on Flare. By allowing web2-like familiar logins, it creates a ‘web2.5 experience’ where users can input their existing Google, Apple, Telegram, Discord and all OAuth-supported user credentials to access decentralized apps and services on the Flare network with ease.

As seed phrases are hard to remember and prone to human error, using a traditional and simple login process instead aims to improve user experience while accelerating adoption. Both mainstream and crypto-native users can benefit from the easy login process that’s been used for accessing web and mobile platforms for decades.

For developers building dapps or wallets on Flare, the Web3Auth integration can significantly streamline the onboarding process, making it a much more straightforward experience for users.

Web3Auth allows the retention of non-custodial characteristics of a wallet management system. In other words, users could maintain full control and ownership of their cryptographic wallets, reinforcing the principles of privacy and security that are inherent to blockchain technology.

Commenting on the Web3Auth integration, Flare’s Senior Solidity Engineer, Filip Koprivec, said: “Onboarding non-web3 users is a major hurdle for existing dapps and developers. A decentralized and secure way of combining classical social logins with web3 authentication means that new users no longer need to set up the private keys but can use the product immediately.”
