Flare partners with Etherspot to launch account abstraction

Etherspot is an ERC4337 developer platform that helps decentralized applications deliver a frictionless web3 user experience. It leverages Account Abstraction to enable smooth onboarding for new users and abstract away complex blockchain operations.

With Account Abstraction, flexible and customizable smart contract accounts become the default, replacing more cumbersome Externally Owned Accounts managed by lengthy private keys. This enables developers to bring a web2-like user experience to their dapps, for example social recovery of crypto wallets, biometric authentication of transactions, and the ability to sign multiple transactions in a one-click action.

The collaboration includes the integration of Etherspot’s Arka Paymaster service into Flare’s infrastructure. Paymaster provides gasless transactions on Flare which enables users to pay for transaction fees in a variety of ways without having to hold FLR or sacrifice custody of their account – for example, the fees can be paid with an ERC-20 token like USDC. At the same time, dApps on Flare will be able to leverage Arka Paymaster Services to sponsor transactions of their users. By removing the requirement for users to hold the native token to participate, onboarding new users becomes dramatically easier, making Flare’s services accessible to a wider audience of developers and end users.

In addition to the on-chain advancements, the partnership also entails the establishment of an independent off-chain stack including Skandha Bundler Service, Arka Paymaster services and custom APIs for seamless usage. This off-chain approach can result in faster and more efficient transactions while also conducting this within a scalable framework that will support as the network traffic scales.

Uttam Singh, Dev Rel at Flare, commented,

“Etherspot is a renowned Account Abstraction SDK provider and recently received a grant from Ethereum Foundation for advancing EIP4337. We are happy to collaborate with them to bring Account Abstraction to Flare, making it easier for builders onboard new users into their dapps and the wider ecosystem.”

Parthasarathy Ramanujam, CTO at Etherspot, added,

“From our first conversations, it was clear that Flare is committed to giving builders all the tools they need to create dapps that are more relevant to more people’s daily lives. That means providing decentralized access to a far greater variety of on and off-chain data, plus via our collaboration, the tools to more easily onboard new users into the Flare ecosystem.”
