Flare API Portal Launches Blockchain APIs On Google Cloud Marketplace

Flare, a Layer 1 blockchain that gives developers decentralized access to high-integrity data from other chains and the internet, has integrated its API Portal on Google Cloud Marketplace, launching some of the first blockchain APIs to be available on the platform.

This allows blockchain data from Flare’s nodes and Connected Chain nodes to be accessed by developers using Google Cloud Marketplace to perform easy blockchain transactions and read up to date state.

With this integration, Google Cloud’s built-in Cloud Marketplace now supports blockchain APIs for Algorand, Binance’s BNB Smart Chain, Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Flare, Litecoin, Songbird, and XRP. All of the blockchain APIs that are added to Flare’s API Portal in the future will also be made available to Google Cloud developers.

Blockchain APIs enable developers to create applications that perform transactions and query on-chain data pertaining to the chain’s latest state. Access to APIs frees developers from the obligation to run their own node for each blockchain they wish to interact with. This ability is particularly valuable when creating cross-chain applications that must query multiple data sources. Leading exchanges and wallets also use the API Portal as a hedge against their own infrastructure.

Flare’s integration with the Marketplace means that anyone who uses Google Cloud can enjoy easy access to all of Flare’s current APIs via their existing Google Cloud account. Spend on Flare APIs through Google Cloud Marketplace can count towards a customer’s committed spend on Google Cloud.

Josh Edwards, Flare’s VP of Engineering, said, “Greater availability of leading blockchain APIs on platforms such as Google Cloud Marketplace reduces the barriers to Web3 participation. It makes it easier for developers to experiment with blockchain technology and its many use cases without being burdened by onerous hardware costs and ongoing maintenance. It also opens up the possibility for larger organizations and partners to experiment with a safe, secure, and approved set of Web3 APIs. As a result, developer teams have the flexibility to create cross-chain applications without any infrastructure headache and allows them to focus on creating and shipping great products.”

James Tromans, Head of Web3 Engineering at Google Cloud, said, “We’re excited to support and promote the ambitions of our Web3 partners in our ecosystem, with the integration of Flare’s high performance APIs into our Marketplace.”

Flare’s EVM-based Layer 1 is designed to extend the utility of blockchain by providing decentralized access to high-integrity data from other chains and from Web2 sources. Every blockchain connected by Flare’s data and interoperability infrastructure will ultimately be added to Google Cloud, giving developers access to the top 100 chains.
